Becoming a Member of the National Association of Parliamentarians...
Created By: Herman, Marie On Sun, Mar 14, 2010 08:43 AM
Saturday morning I sat for my exam to be able to join the National Association of Parliamentarians. Yes, you have to pass a test in order to JOIN the association. Fortunately it's only 100 questions (out of a test bank of 300 questions), so it wasn't too bad, although I have already learned a number of things I didn't know while preparing (like there really is such a thing as an adjourned meeting - I thought they made it up hehehe). I'll find out within a few weeks if I passed or not. I'm going on the assumption that I did (cause I'm optimistic that way). :)

Next step? Becoming a Registered Parliamentarian... or at least that is my hope. I've set myself a goal of taking that test during the week of April 12, 2010, if possible. It's a larger test - 300 questions from a test bank of 1200 questions covering all parts of the Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised.

I've already begun studying. It's an aggressive schedule with a really tight turnaround, but I have faith in myself and I think I can do it. I'd love to have a study buddy if someone were up for a grueling couple of weeks. :D

I couldn't find an egroup on parliamentary procedure, so I have created one. I hope plenty of people join it (especially people who know something about it LOL). Please check for it in the egroups (though I may have to ask Ben to make it "visible" since member created groups don't seem to automatically show up on the list).

Wish me luck! I'm wading into Robert's Rules!! :)
